What is a knit along (KAL)?

A knit along (KAL) is what it’s called when many knitters work on their own version of the same pattern at the same time. The pattern is broken down into steps for extended release.

KALs are a fun way to share your work with others, but they have other benefits, too. The pacing keeps you on track, there’s a bit of built-in of accountability, and you have the support of other knitters who know exactly where you are in the project and how to help if you hit a snag.

Working at a steady pace, you’ll have a new afghan just in time for fall!

The Summer Stitch Sampler Knit Along

This KAL began on Monday, June 22nd.

Each Monday, one section of the pattern for the afghan was released.

There were 13 sections in all: 12 stitches to master, plus a border.

FAQ

What will the afghan look like?

With a mystery knit along, not knowing is part of the fun, but if you’d like a little peek at what’s ahead, check out Instagram or Facebook for teasers.

Are the stitches difficult?

Some are more difficult than others. Most patterns are made by knits, purls, increases, and decreases.

Later, short rows and cable knitting are introduced. These are a bit trickier, but something you can definitely do if you can knit and purl!

What if I need help?

If the description and videos aren’t enough, you can reach out for assistance with any portion of the pattern. Leave a comment so that all readers can benefit from your question or ask your question in the Facebook group!
