About Bear Claw Stitch

Bear Claw Stitch is a fan-style stitch. The knit stitches of the “claw” (which looks a bit like a fan) pop on the background of Reverse Stockinette Stitch.

I used 217 yards (198 meters) of yarn to complete this panel.

This pattern was adapted from 50 Fabulous Knit Stitches by Rita Weiss.

Row 3 – K6, *k2, yo, (k1, p3) four times, k1, yo, k1; rep from * to last 6 sts, k6

Row 4 – K6, *p3, (k3, p1) four times, p3; rep from * to last 6 sts, k6 [78 sts]

Row 5 – K6, *k3, yo, (k1, p3) four times, k1, yo, k2; rep from * to last 6 sts, k6
