Pattern

This pillow cover is worked back and forth from the bottom to the top. The front and back are worked separately and seamed together.

Directions given for 12″ x 16″ (16″ x 16″, 18″ x 18″, 20″ x 20″, 26″ x 26″) as size 1 (2, 3, 4, 5). Instructions are divided according to size.

Setup

CO 20 (24, 30, 34, 40) sts.

K 1 row.

Front

The front side of the pillow is the basket weave pattern.

1 – *k6, p4*

2 – *k4, p6*

3 – as row 1

4 – as row 2

5 – as row 1

6 – p all

7 – *p4, k6*

8 – *p6, k4*

9 – as row 7

10 – as row 8

11 – as row 7

12 – p all

Size 1:
Repeat these 12 rows once more (work twice total), then work rows 1 to 6 once more.

Size 3:
Repeat these 12 rows twice more (work 3 times total).

Size 5:
Repeat these 12 rows 3 times more (work 4 times total), then work rows 1 to 6 once more.

Work in Stockinette stitch for 34 (34, 40, 46, 58) rows or until piece measures the same as the front.

Finishing

Seam three sides of the front and back together. Insert pillow form and seam the last side.

Weave or tuck in any loose ends.
