The Shop

EWE opened about four years ago. Setting up shop in Charlottesville, Virginia, they dedicated themselves to sourcing domestic fiber goods, yarns, and handmade tools. Their focus on the domestic fiber industry helps make them unique. They also offer garment fabrics, sewing supplies, and a beautiful maker’s lounge.

The shop is clean with crisp, modern lines. It’s beautiful! In a town with multiple local yarn shops, it’s a standout.

A Look Around EWE Fine Fiber Goods

There is a wide range of yarns here. I was drooling over a few of the boutique yarns (like Spincycle by Dream State), but found that other yarns were much more affordable. Some were $7 to $9 per skein!

I thought the Fiber Bar was a clever and creative take on a typical serve-yourself area. I’m not practiced at spinning, but I immediately started picturing the possibilities.

The maker’s lounge made me wish I lived closer to Charlottesville. I would really love to create something in this wide open, useful space. I perused the sewing classes and toyed with the idea of driving down for a few weekends. Maybe I’ll make it happen!
