Laughing Sheep Yarns: The Shop

Laughing Sheep has been in Charlottesville for nearly four decades. They offer a huge selection of cotton and wool. Much of it is what you would call “baby yarn,” ultra soft and finer in weight.

The shop offers groups crafting sessions most days of the week: Tuesdays Together, Friday Fiber Friends, Saturday Afternoon Crafting Together, and Fiber Enthusiasts’ Sundays. Classes are also held regularly. (Check the online calendar for dates.)

When I researched the shop before my trip, I noticed that they bill themselves as a warm and inviting shop. I’m happy to report that they absolutely are!

Though I was only there for a set of Chiao Goo circular needles, everyone in the shop made me feel welcome. I didn’t feel rushed or out of place poking around and touching yarns after I’d made my purchase. The shop owners even answered a few basic questions we had about the area and helped us figure out where to have lunch!

I’d describe this shop as warm and cozy with a bit of whimsy.

As a practical gal, my favorite thing about Laughing Sheep Yarns is that it is open 7 days a week. This made it so much easier to plan a visit!
