Join Our Secret Santa Yarn Exchange!

I am thrilled to announce that we’re hosting our first (and hopefully inaugural) Secret Santa Yarn Exchange! I’d love it if you participated. This yarn exchange is a fun way to spread some cheer in the peak of knitting season.

What is a Secret Santa?

A Secret Santa Gift Exchange is a group gift exchange. Each participant provides a single gift to a randomly assigned participant and also receives a single gift from an unknown participant.

For this exchange, you’ll be gifting (and receiving) yarn!

How It Works

We’ll be using Elfster, a Secret Santa website, to facilitate this exchange. Using the link below, sign up for the exchange. You’ll be asked to provide your basic information, including your mailing address so that your gift can be shipped to you.

Sign up for the exchange by Monday, November 1. Once it has closed, no more participants can be added. On Tuesday, November 2, Elfster will assign Secret Santas and email all participants. At that time, you’ll be able to see your giftee’s basic information and start shopping!

The budget for this exchange is $20.00 (not including shipping).

Send your gift no later than Wednesday, December 1. Shipping times around the holidays are always a little long, so if you are able to send your gift before that, please do!

Elfster has excellent features for managing gift exchanges, including the ability to mark a gift as sent or received. Please use these features so that your giftee knows to watch the mailbox and so that your Secret Santa knows their package arrived safely.

Can I send scrap yarn?

Please do not send partially used skeins or scraps. Only gift what you would be thrilled to receive!

Can I participate if I live outside of the US?

Yes!

International shipping can be expensive. What happens if I’m assigned to someone in another country?

Elfster allows you to indicate that you are/are not willing to ship internationally when you sign up.

What if I am allergic to wool? [or other concern about fibers]

The signup includes a couple of icebreaker questions to help your gifter get to know you. Please indicate that you are unable to use wool due to an allergy (or are a vegan, etc.) in your answer.

Can I send something with the yarn?

Yes, please feel free to send a holiday card, notions, or other gift… as long as you include the yarn, too!

Will I ever know who sent me this yarn?!

Yes, after the receipt of your gift, Elfster will reveal your gifter and give you the opportunity to send them a thank-you message.
