Yarnia of Old Town [Local Yarn Shop]

Head to Old Town Warrenton, a picturesque small town Main Street. Beside the general store — yes, a real general store — you’ll find the building that used to house Yarnia of Old Town. Unfortunately this shop closed in 2020.

🧶 This visit is part of the Ultimate Virginia Yarn Crawl.

Formerly The Red Thread, Yarnia was rebranded during a local move in 2017. By the time of my visit, the shop had already announced its closing. The pandemic closures in Virginia postponed their liquidation sale, but it is now active. You’ll find the remaining stock up to 70% off. It’s currently located in the back of The Purple Pumpkin, a neighboring shop that specializes in children’s toys and gifts.

As you can see, the shelves are still well-stocked.

Since I had the green light, I purchased some new Chiao Goo needles (their red lace needles are my absolute favorite), a jumbo crochet hook, adorable Hiya Hiya stitch markers, and two skeins of Cascade Ultra Pima in Aqua.

The staff was helpful and kind. I can easily see how this LYS will be missed.
