Calling All Test Knitters!

Calling all knitters! Are you interested in pattern testing? I’m looking for a group of yarnies interested in becoming test knitters for AYL.

What is pattern testing?

Before a designer releases a new pattern, it goes through several processes. After it has been tech edited, the instructions are provided to test knitters who work the pattern and provide feedback to the designer.

The ultimate goal of this process is to ensure that the instructions in the pattern are clear to the knitter and accurately produce the desired garment (or other project) when worked.

How do I become a test knitter?

If you can follow a pattern and are willing to knit it on a deadline, you can be a pattern tester!

You do not need to be an experienced tester to sign up. In fact, knitters of all levels are desired so that the feedback is as comprehensive as possible. If this is something you might be interested in, sign up! You’ll receive calls for pattern testers with AYL updates and news.

.

I’ll share testing calls as needed, probably every few weeks. The call will include the materials required, skills required, and deadline for completion. From there, interested knitters can respond to the call to request a spot as a test knitter. I’ll select multiple testers for each pattern (or, if it has multiple sizes, I’ll select a few for each size).

I design many types of projects, which you can find on my Ravelry designer page.

Except socks. I don’t enjoy knitting them, so I doubt I’ll ever design a pair!
