Plum Washcloth Set [Knitting Pattern]
Imagine my surprise when I found knitting needles, notions, and yarn at our local grocery store! Lidl always has something interesting in the center aisles (“Lidl Surprises”), but these have been my favorite by far. I used them to design the Plum Washcloth Set.

Knitting Pattern
The Plum Washcloth Set Knitting Patterns include an introduction to mosaic colorwork. If you can work a knit stitch, you can create beautiful, intricate patterns working with one strand of yarn at a time! It is easy and fun!

Materials
Recommended Yarn:
50 yards of Crelando yarn in dark purple
25 yards of Crelando yarn in dusty pink
12 yards of Crelando yarn in light purple
These yarns can be purchased as a set at Lidl when available.
A suitable replacement yarn is any 100% cotton that would meet the appropriate gauge, such as Patons Grace, Rowan Cotton Glace, or Lion Brand Bonbons.
Needles:
US #4/3.50 mm

20 sts x 26 rows = 4″ x 4″
in garter stitch
Sizing:
one size (8″ x 8″)

BO – bind off
CO – cast on
k – knit

wyif – with yarn in front
WS – wrong side
Plum Washcloth Set #1 – Pin Box Washcloth
This washcloth is worked back and forth from the bottom up.
Setup
CO 39 sts in color A (dark purple). Also used: color B (dusty pink).
Body
The mosaic is worked first.
On all RS (odd) rows, slip all slipped stitches wyib.
On all WS (even) rows, slip all slipped stitches wyif.
Row 1 – color A – k all
Row 2 – color A – k all
Row 3 – color B – k1 *sl1 wyib, k11* end sl1 wyib, k1
Row 4 – color B – work as presented
(Knit all stitches that were knit on the last row and slip all stitches that were slipped on the last row, but slip them with yarn in front.)
Row 5 – A – k2 *sl1, k9, sl1, k1* end k1
Row 6 – A – work as presented
Row 7 – B – (k1, sl1) twice, *k7, (sl1, k1) twice, sl1* end k7, (sl1, k1) twice
Row 8 – B – work as presented
Row 9 – A – k2, sl1, k1, sl1, *k5, (sl1, k1) 3 times, sl1* end k5, sl1, k1, sl1, k2
Row 10 – A – work as presented

Repeat row 26 until your work measures 8″ square. Check your progress by folding your washcloth in half across the diagonal. When the triangles created by the fold are even, BO all sts.
Finishing
Weave in ends. Block if desired.
Plum Washcloth Set #2 – Fade Washcloth
This washcloth is worked back and forth.
Setup
CO 39 sts in color A (dark purple). Also used: color B (dusty pink) and color C (light purple).
Body
Rows 1 to 4 (color A) – k all
Rows 5 to 8 (color C) – k all
Rows 9 to 12 (color B) – k all
Rows 13 to 16 (color C) – k all
Repeat rows 1 through 16 twice more (48 rows).
Rows 49 to 52 (color A) – k all
BO all sts.
Finishing
Weave in all ends. Block lightly if desired.
