A Single Day in Sedona, Arizona

If you had a single day to spend in Sedona, Arizona, what would you do? I recently went on a whirlwind girls’ trip and we had to figure it out. Here’s how we spent our time.

The Vortexes

This was my first time in Arizona and I was enchanted by the landscape. Driving in from Phoenix, my trip began on flat, cactus-lined roads and quickly shifted to mountains that turned red-orange as rock formations begin to spring up around me.

Sedona, in particular, is gorgeous.

Our group had mixed reasons to be interested in the vortexes (the metaphysical, the trails, the views), but they were everyone’s first priority.

We opted for a guided tour to maximize our time and may have been the very best decision we made on the whole trip! Tom, our guide, gave us a local’s perspective on Sedona and access to views we wouldn’t have been able to find on our own. He was knowledgeable, passionate, flexible, and friendly. I can’t recommend this tour enough, especially if you have limited time.

With Tom, we toured vortexes and visited the Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park. We learned the history of the area, both formal and anecdotal. He even led us in guided meditations.

The Shops

When we weren’t on the mountains, we were exploring Sedona’s shops and restaurants. There were so many to choose from!

The most well-known shop in Sedona is probably the Center for the New Age, a shop we couldn’t wait to explore! The shop carries handmade jewelry, crystals, holistic and spiritual books, and Tibetan artifacts.

We didn’t have time for psychic readings, aura photos, past life regressions, or any of the many other services offered at the center, but we enjoyed reading the biographies of the practitioners and planning what we’ll do on our next trip.

The Local Yarn Shop

Not everyone was interested in this adventure, but I don’t ever feel like I’ve visited somewhere if I haven’t been to the local yarn shop!

Sedona Knit Wits is Sedona’s sole yarn shop and it had a wonderful selection of yarns and friendly service.

By the time we left the shop, the sun was going down. The day flew by! We’ll have to come back to Sedona, hopefully sooner rather than later.
