Wool Workshop [Local Yarn Shop]

Wool Workshop is a cozy local yarn shop in Roanoke, Virginia.

🧶 This visit is part of The Ultimate Virginia Yarn Crawl.

a small house-turned-shop with a sign that reads Wool Workshop

My first visit to Wool Workshop was about five years ago. I scooped up my first pair of ChiaoGoo needles and some gorgeous Sunrise Fiber Co. sock yarn. Since then I’ve made a few more visits, stopping by whenever I’m in the area to visit family. I know I’ll always be able to find a beautiful yarn… or the notions that I forgot to pack.

Wool Workshop: The Shop

This shop is located in a converted house, which only adds to its charm. It has several rooms connected by open doorways. This helps with logical organization of yarn, which is by weight. It’s organized neatly and beautifully. Whether you’re looking for something specific or browsing for something that catches your eye, this makes it easy to discover the perfect yarn.

Their collection even includes locally-sourced luxury yarns and fibers! You can also find supplies for spinning or weaving.

A Look Around

I just loved the owl head hat on this mannequin!

This loom had a project in progress. Classes are available!

I love finding yarn that is hand-dyed in Virginia!
