The Sedona Scarf is a simple knit with a beautiful allover stitch pattern that shows well in light-colored yarns with gradient or solid colorways.
This pattern was inspired by the beautiful colors and textures of Sedona’s sandstone. (Learn more about our travels in Sedona.)
The Sedona Scarf is worked back and forth from one end to the other. It is made up of only knits and purls in a stitch commonly known as Hurdle Stitch. It is suitable for a beginner.

Size
5.5″ wide x 65″ long
Materials
Yarn:
2 skeins of Hobbii Sunbird (formerly known as Butterfly) yarn in 06 Harlequin
As only half of each skein of yarn is used, two skeins is sufficient for two scarves.
Needles:
US #9/5.50mm needles

finishing needle
Notes
Gauge:
18 sts x 25 rows = 4″ x 4″
in Hurdle Stitch with yarn held doubled
Matching gauge is not essential for this project.
Abbreviations
BO – bind off
CO – cast on
k – knit
p – purl
st(s) – stitch(es)
Setup
Using yarn drawn from the center of one cake, draw out approximately 10 yards of yarn. Snip and discard. This staggers the color changes in the gradient between the skeins for a more gradual change between colors.
Draw yarn from the center of each cake and, working with both strands held together, CO 24 sts.
Setup Row 1 and 2 – k all
Body (Hurdle Stitch)
Rows 1 and 2 – *k1, p1*
Rows 3 and 4 – k all
Repeat these 4 rows until the scarf measures 65″ long, ending with Row 4.
Finishing
BO all sts. Weave in ends.
Block lightly if desired.

the Harlequin 06 doesn’t look like the same color as your scarf i would like that color combination, the 06 has a blue section

It’s the same! It has both blue and red, but I started in the center of the cake and didn’t use the whole thing, only the light cream to orange sections. I also have a pic of the cake in the colorway I used here: https://www.atyarnslength.com/butterfly-yarn-by-hobbii-yarn-review/
