Premier’s Just Yarn: Now at Dollar Tree!

Finding yarn at Dollar Tree used to be rare. If our store happened to get yarn, it was an overstock lot of yarn in a single color and it was there because it wasn’t selling anywhere else. Now when we shop at Dollar Tree, there’s almost always an endcap full of yarn in their featured brand: Premier’s Just Yarn. I couldn’t resist picking up a few skeins to see how they worked up.

About Premier’s Just Yarn

Premier is a yarn company known for a variety of yarns, though Sweet Roll is likely the most recognizable. Just Yarn is a line of yarn created for Dollar Tree.

At Dollar Tree, you can find Premier’s Just Yarn, a value yarn suitable for crafting, knitting, and crochet. It is available in 5 styles: Worsted, Tweed, Cotton, Chenille, and Maker’s Twine. I purchased a few skeins of Just Yarn Worsted and Tweed. Worsted is only available in skeins of 60 grams (2.1 ounces)/130 yards (119 meters). Tweed is available in barely-smaller skeins (55 grams).

Both yarns were available in several lovely colors. I purchased Rust Tweed, Pecan, and Terra Cotta, all for use in a striped pumpkin. I was able to easily match dye lots when selecting the yarns.

As you may expect, Premier Just Yarn is 100% acrylic, though it doesn’t feel cheap. It isn’t scratchy or squeaky. The texture is definitely softer than Red Heart Super Saver yarn. It also feels very lightweight. I’d say it’s more comparable to Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice yarn or Loops & Threads Impeccable yarn, two of my favorite acrylic yarns.

These yarns also worked up beautifully!

Cost per Yard

Premier Just Yarn Worsted holds its own against value acrylics like Red Heart Super Saver.

Perhaps more importantly, Just Yarn is offered in smaller skeins. With other brands, you must spend $3.50 for 100 yards of yarn because there are no skeins available that are smaller than 350 yards. If you’re completing several small projects in different colors or one multi-color project, those additional costs per color will add up!

Where to Buy

If you’re looking for a good acrylic yarn, consider this one. The price is good, as is the quality.

It can be found on craft aisles at Dollar Tree stores. Use the Dollar Tree store locator to find one near you!
