Our Favorite Sweets at Walt Disney World

I love food. And while I love it all, I definitely have a sweet tooth. One of my absolute favorite things about traveling is being able to try new dishes, like the sweets at Walt Disney World!

Our family has tried just about every sweet snack there is at Walt Disney World. While the five of us don’t always agree on what we should eat on every visit, we’ve been able to (mostly) agree about our favorite sweet treats across all four parks!

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom has tons of snack options and at this point, they’re achieving a level of fame on their own! Between Mickey bars and churros, we had a tough time choosing. We decided the most logical pick was the treat that every single one of us finished in its entirety: the Cheshire Cat Tail.

Cheshire Cat Tails are delicious puff pastries, filled with semisweet chocolate and drizzled with pink and purple icing. These pastries are so good that we improvise our own at home whenever we need a taste of the parks. We purchase similar pastries from Lidl, warm them up, and top them with homemade icing!

The Cheshire Cat Tail is usually served at the Cheshire Café in Fantasyland, but on our last visit, this quick service shop was closed!

To our relief, we were able to find our beloved cat tails at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café in Tomorrowland. We also learned it is available at The Lunching Pad, though there it is only available during breakfast hours (until 11:30AM).

Regardless of where you find it, the Cheshire Cat Tail sells for $5.49.

Epcot

Though the options seemed endless, two finalists emerged in our discussion of the best sweets at Epcot. Ultimately the School Bread from Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe in Norway emerged victorious, narrowly beating out the Raspberry and Lime Cream Macaron from Les Halles in France.

School Bread is a traditional Norwegian treat named so because it is often sent with children to school. It is light and the flavor pairings are unusual, at least to an American’s palate, but they work.

The bread itself is not very sweet; it’s almost like a dinner roll. It has a generous amount of cardamom and you can spot the flecks throughout the dough. The center is filled with lightly sweetened vanilla custard and the top is dipped in toasted coconut.

The serving size is generous, the price point is fair at $4.49, and, maybe best of all, I don’t have any trouble pronouncing “School Bread” when I order it!

Hollywood Studios

One of my favorite things about traveling is trying new things. Having visited Walt Disney World multiple times, I’m starting to have to make some hard choices with food. Do I try new things or revisit my old favorites?

One look at the Carrot Cake Cookie at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and I knew I’d be trying something new this time around… and revisiting a favorite on the next visit!

The Carrot Cake Cookie is a misnomer. While this snack used to be more cookie-like, it’s now more like an oversized whoopie pie or a mini layer cake sandwich. The filling of the sandwich is, of course, cream cheese icing, which makes it rich and sweet. The spice of the cake balances the icing well.

You can find this amazing sweet treat at The Trolley Car Café. It isn’t listed on their online menu, but we snagged it for $3.99. Considering its size, we considered it a good buy. Grab a knife — it’s great for sharing!

Animal Kingdom

Since the opening of Pandora a few years ago, Animal Kingdom has upped its game with interesting food choices. Our favorite is the Pongu Lumpia.

Pongu Lumpia is described as a pineapple cream cheese spring roll, but its size is closer to a small burrito. While it is sweet, the acidity of the pineapple balances it out.

Be sure to grab some napkins! The warm, soft filling can get messy, even with the crisp spring roll shell giving it a bit of structure.

This delicious treat is available at Pongu Pongu. You can find it as a main option on the breakfast menu or as a snack on the menu for lunch and dinner. At $3.29 it’s the most affordable snack option we’ve found at the parks!

We’ve also made this snack at home in the air fryer! It isn’t as good as the original, but it hits the spot when we can’t make the drive to Florida.

Do you have a favorite sweet treat from the Disney parks?
